Gudrun Opperman urged the Lake Houston Gardeners to “get away from boring” by planting less common varieties of shrubs , and after the February deep freeze, we are all going to need some new ideas. Here is her presentation, filled with beautiful photos of each shrub (many from her own yard). Gudrun also provided a handout with detailed guidelines on plant location, soil and light needs which you can download here.
A few lucky gardeners were able to take home some rooting clippings from her yard, but there were many plants available for exchange, considering the time of year. There was also a fabulous bundt cake and lots of socializing–with masks, of course.
