The Lake Houston Gardener’s first field trip of the year will be on Wednesday, Sept 18 to visit the POST Houston building and take a tour of Blackwood Skyfarms on the rooftop. The group will leave by Precinct 3 bus from Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 8:30 a.m. and return around 3 p.m.

The POST Houston building is the one time Barbara Jordan Post Office complex on the edge of downtown that has been renovated to be one of Houston’s newest destinations.  The facility has a food court featuring various cuisines from Houston area restaurants (no fast food), art installations, a concert hall and small business suites.  The rooftop includes the garden , a park like resting area and fabulous views of the Houston skyline.  

Note that this trip is on a Wednesday instead of the usual Friday trip, since this is the day that tours of the rooftop farm is offered. The bus ride is free. Members can sign up at the Sept. 9 club meeting or contact Denise Caruselle
