Tour the gracious homes and gardens of Beaumont

In the late 19th and early 20th century, Beaumont was the home of the wealthiest citizens of Texas.  Between the timber industry and early oil boom, the city was a place to make fabulous fortunes, with are now reflected in some of its prominent homes and gardens, which are now museums.

The Lake Houston Gardeners will tour two of these homes on Friday, April 19 club field trip, We will travel on the free Precinct 3 bus, with lunch at Katherine & Company in Beaumont.

McFadden Ward House

The first house is the McFaddin Ward Home, carriage house and garden.  The guided tour starts at 10a.m. and is limited to 24 people; a commitment is needed by April 3.

After lunch is a tour of the second home, the Chambers House Museum which was built in 1907 and still contains the personal items and decor from its last update in 1924. Admission is $5 per person.

The bus will leave the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 8 a.m. of April 19 and return by 4:30 p.m.  Please contact Patti Muhlberger by April 2 or sign up at the March meeting if you would like to be a part of this fabulous day.
