It’s September, and time for garden club to meet again

Summer is over, at least by the calendar, and it’s time for the Lake Houston Gardeners to start a new year of socializing with garden buddies, hearing interesting speakers, and exchanging our favorite plants with each other.   The first meeting is on Monday, September 9 at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood.  As in

Suzzanne Chapman

the past, we start with social time at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m., and then a plant exchange.  Meetings are open  to anyone in the community interested in subjects related to gardening.

The speaker will be Suzzanne Chapman, former curator of gardens at Mercer Botanic Gardens, and member ofLake Houston Gardeners.  She will speak on garden design using both exotic and native varieties which thrive in our woodlands/prairie ecosystem.

The jams, jellies and sauces from this summer’s OFE Gardens will be available for sale; credit cards are accepted although checks or cash is preferred.  Also, annual dues of $25 for single members and $30 for couples will also be collected; only checks or cash please.
