Invitation to Open Garden Day, Montgomery County

Please join us on April 5th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon for “2025 Open Gardens” at the Montgomery County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office.  All are invited to take a stroll through our beautifully maintained gardens by the Montgomery County Master Gardeners at no charge to the public. 

Spring is here! What better way to get gardening ideas and learn more about enhancing your own yard! AND it’s a FUN way to enjoy nature and do something different!

Master Gardeners will be available to guide you and answer any questions you may have as you walk through the various gardens of your choice: Adaptive, Aquaponics, Bog, Composting, Discovery, EarthKind, Floral, Greenhouse, Herb, Memory, Orchard, Turf, & Vegetables.

This is a family friendly event as there are FUN, learning experiences for ALL ages.  There will be numerous activities for the children as well including a scavenger hunt, crafts, feeding the fish at the Bog and more!

There will be two 30-minute presentations in the Tom LeRoy Building for you to learn more. The topics of the presentations will be “Square Foot Gardening” and “Worm Composting”.  These educational gardening classes will be offered in conjuncture with the Open Gardens’ Day event.  Children are welcome with parent supervision.

Scheduled Activities:
9:15 a.m. – Propagation Demonstration in Greenhouse 1
9:30 a.m. – Presentation in the Tom LeRoy Building: “Square Foot Gardening”
10 a.m. – Children’s Activity “Succulent Butterfly”
10:15 a.m. – Propagation Demonstration in Greenhouse 1
10:30 a.m. – Presentation in the Tom LeRoy Building: “Old MacDonald had a Worm Farm, E-I-E-EW”
11:45 a.m. – Closing Event
